MCB White Cane Walk

In conjunction with White Cane Safety Day the Missouri Council of the Blind will be hosting White Cane Walk events across the state to increase awareness of the use of the white cane and the laws that govern its use.

White Cane Safety Day is a national observance in the United States, celebrated on October 15 of each year since 1964. The date is set aside to celebrate the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and the important symbol of blindness and tool of independence, the white cane.

This years MCB White Cane Walk events will be held on Saturday, October 15 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Each event will include refreshments, a guest speaker and a walk by blind and sighted individuals using a white cane. Everyone is invited to attend and to participate in the walk. For more information call (800) 342-5632 or contact one of our 21 local area affiliates.
